They created their platforms, got many people of the world to become dependent on them and their services. Then they pulled the rug out from under their feet when they have an opinion different from the rulers at their companies.
The solution is decentralization of power.
Example: Let's look at Mail Chimp, who is also involved in censoring people for "thought crimes"... They are an email list building web app that let's you put their code on your site, and then you build an email list on the mail chimp servers, and you pay a fee for the amount of people on your email list. But when you say something they disapprove (even though it's not illegal), or if the entire media makes you a pariah: They kick you off.
All you need is to program that same functionality on your own server, with your own code that does the same thing. That way you own it and no one can shut you down. Whether it's for an email list building app, or whatever program you want to run. I can do this, and you can test many of my programs for yourself on the WORK page.
Free people are impossible to control. The only thing you can do to sway them is to persuade them. Because of that, the only safe and sane way forward is support the people who support you, and to boycott the bad companies who have proven they don't care about you or your business. Let them feel the sting of failure and lose their base that built them to where they are. It's the only way they will learn. And then when they repent: Ignore them still. Let them fail just like with Paypal's recent scam on sellers. Because all they're going to do, as proven by their reaction to this, is wait until awareness dies down, then ramp it back up when no one is paying attention.
